To The Improper Bostonian,

My name is Sally Ince and I am applying for a photography internship with The Improper Bostonian. My passion for photography came I believe this internship will take my work from that of an inspired student into the works of a creative professional. I particularly like how this opportunity provides for journalism and photography students to assist with projects that will be published in a magazine. This will provide me with skills to learn my career’s environment and will also provide me with the knowledge I need to be successful in photojournalism. Combining the skills I have already acquired through volunteer work, previous education in photography and design classes I am confident I am ready to further interact with production. The skills I will learn working with your magazine will not only give me experience, but it will also help make me the photographer and designer I aspire to be.

I have chosen to pursue a field in journalism, particularly in photojournalism, because I enjoy capturing moments that make readers want to know the whole story. I believe a picture is the first thing that draws the reader’s eyes as well as their interest. I want to write stories that will have reader’s full attention from the lead to the closing paragraph. I have had both photos and articles published in The Independent Florida Alligator, The Gainesville Sun and on I am recognized as an extremely hard worker from both Internship leaders and job employers and am determined to reflect this in my work with your magazine. I understand that interning for your magazine will require hard work and I look forward to the challenges that will be put in front of me as it will prepare me for a successful and fulfilling career.
